New Delhi, Aug 21 (IANS) Pakistani singer-actor Ali Zafar, who is looking forward to his upcoming movie 'Mere Bother Ki Dulhan', has started working on his third Bollywood project called 'London, Paris, New York', which he describes as a witty romance.
'Announcing my 3rd film, 'London, Paris, New York' directed by Anu Menon, produced by Rose Movies presented by Fox star studios' Zafar posted on micro-blogging site Twitter.

The movie, being co-produced by Goldie Behl and his sister Shrishti Arya, has Adity Rao of 'Yeh Saali Zindagi' fame as the female lead opposite Zafar.

The 31-year-old made his Bollywood debut last year with 'Tere Bin Laden'.

Farah fights the fat!

By Hindustan Times
Mumbai, Aug. 17 -- Seems almost every Amar, Akbar and Anthony in Bollywood is being plagued by weight issues. The latest to fall prey to the weighing scale, my faithful jasoos tells me, is director-turned-actor, Farah Khan.
The straight-shooting lady is usually the one calling the shots, but as she'll be making her on-screen debut in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production, Shirin Farhad, it's time for her to follow orders. The film's director, Bela Sehgal, has asked the... ahem... voluptuous Farah to lose atleast 10 kilos before they begin shooting.

'Sahi Dhande Ghalat Bande', an honest effort by Parvin Dabas

Film: "Sahi Dhande Ghalat Bande"; Starring: Parvin Dabas, Vansh Bhardwaj, Ashish Nair, Kudeep Ruhil; Directed by: Parveen Dabas; Rating: ***
Ekdum sahi hai, boss! As Anna Hazare shifts from Tihar to Ramlila Maidan, our cinema has made a far more gradual movement from the 'arty-unintelligible' grammar of Mani Kaul to the 'arty-accessible' language of Parvin Dabas' film.
This is the land of Shyam Benegal's social inequalities where politicians pitch their self-interest higher than the good of the country.
Not every do-gooder is a Hazare. Sometime you just have to make do with a benign goon like Rajbir (Parvin Dabas) who breaks legs (shot on mobile phone) and extorts money for his surrogate-father (Sharat Saxena, in his usual excellent form). When Rajbir and his three socially-questionable friends set their hearts on saving their village farmers' land from urban land-sharks you know this is the land of Sholay brought into the political consciousness of the cinema of Mrinal Sen and Benegal.
"Sahi Dhande…" is an immensely ambitious film. Debutant director Parvin Dabas sets out to create a cinema that prods the audiences' conscience awake without lengthy speeches on corruption and reformation. Dabas keeps the pace uniform and even.

The actors seemed to have bonded well as they also went on a leisure boat ride. Khan posted another image of several fans on a bridge, waving at them.

Being a mum in real life helped my role in 'Spy Kids 4', says Jessica Alba

Jessica Alba has revealed that being a mother in real life proved to be "helpful" for her role in the new movie 'Spy Kids 4'.
The 30-year-old American actress, who has two daughters Honor, 3 and Haven, one week, with husband Cash Warren, thinks her own experience of being a mother gave her a good insight into the role where she plays a retired secret agent married to a spy-hunting reporter raising three children.
"I think it was helpful," Contactmusic quoted her as saying.
"I don't know if I would have even done this movie if I wasn't a parent, so I actually brought my real life experience to work. It was more natural and I've been in a lot of those circumstances for sure," she added. (ANI)

Three quarters of women think they are as good at basic DIY skills as men

A new British survey has found that almost three quarters of women believe they are as good at DIY (Do It Yourself) tasks as men, with a third saying their work was actually better than the blokes.
The survey of 2,000 British women showed that of the 60 percent who are currently in a relationship, over a third said they do more DIY around the house than their partner.
Half of all women questioned said they spend between one and five hours a week doing DIY with 73 per cent saying they were just as competent at basic tasks as men.

Oasis singer Liam Gallagher suing his brother

One of music's most famous family feuds is headed for the courts.
Oasis singer Liam Gallagher said Friday he is suing his estranged brother and former bandmate, Noel, for saying his hangover forced the rumbustious Brit rockers to cancel a concert.
Bad blood between the brothers has made headlines ever since Oasis burst to fame in 1994 with debut album "Definitely Maybe."
When Noel left the band in 2009 he said it was because he couldn't work "a day longer" with his brother.
Liam is disputing comments Noel made last month alleging that Liam pulled out of the 2009 V Festival due to a hangover.
Liam said in a statement he wants an apology and for Oasis fans "to know the truth" about what happened — laryngitis prevented him from performing the gig.

Shah Rukh Khan sues a jewellery brand!

raoneposter.jpg
By Hindustan Times
Shah Rukh Khan has sued jewellery brand Agni for illegally using the unreleased song Chamak Challo from RA.One at the recently held India International Jewellery Week.
The song by Akon featuring Kareena Kapoor was leaked online a few months back. Agni had used the song during the fourth day of the fashion week when Bollywood actor Amrita Rao had walked the ramp.
T-Series, which has the rights of the song, has sent a legal notice to the brand asking for a compensation of Rs 2 crore. Bhushan Kumar, head of T-Series, told Mid Day: "Yes, we have sent a legal notice to Agni for using our unreleased song without prior permission. It is an illegal thing to do. We are moving court and suing them for about Rs 2 crore. One needs to get a license to use any song for a show. However, for an unreleased song you cannot even obtain a license."
A source from SRK's Red Chillies Entertainment told the tabloid: "SRK was livid when he learnt that the unreleased number has been used by the brand. The scratch version of the song was leaked on the internet a few months ago, which was probably picked up by the jewellery brand. It is a very careless mistake. Surely they knew that the song requires license.

3 men convicted in 1993 Cub Scout slayings go free

Jason Baldwin

Three men convicted in the nightmarish slayings of three Cub Scouts went free Friday, nearly two decades after they were sent to prison in a case so gruesome it raised suspicions the children had been sacrificed in a Satanic ritual.

Doubts about the evidence against the trio had persisted for years and threatened to force prosecutors to put on a second trial in 2012.
Instead, the so-called West Memphis Three were permitted to plead guilty to murder in exchange for time served, ending a long-running legal battle that had raised questions about DNA and key witnesses — and attracted support from celebrities such as Eddie Vedder.
The men entered the pleas under a legal provision that allowed them to maintain their innocence while acknowledging that prosecutors had enough evidence to convict them.
"Although I am innocent, this plea is in my best interest," Jessie Misskelley said.

Mausam trailer out

mausamposter.jpg
The theatrical trailer of Pankaj Kapoor's directorial debut Mausam has been unveiled. The clipping that starts with a shayari has an old-world charm to it.
Shahid Kapoor who plays a fighter pilot in Mausam appears in a fresh look with a moustache. Sonam Kapoor's look is not very different from her Delhi 6 avatar.
Shahid claims that he has closely followed the mannerisms of the Indian Air Force pilots in the bases he visited and maintains that he is completely in awe of their attitude.
"Mausam is about season of love. It's about different emotions and different situations that the couple goes through. That's the theme of the film," said Shahid.
Let's see if this fresh jodi is able to create ripples at box-office.

Trailer of Imran-Katrina starrer out: Mere Brother Ki Dulhan

By Hindustan Times
Imran Khan, Katrina Kaif and Ali Zafar would be seen in a love triangle in debutante director Ali Abbas Zafar's Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. The romcom pairs up Imran and Katrina for the first time, and the chemistry is crackling. The trailer also shows Katrina Kaif mimicking Dharmendra's 'mausiji scene' from Sholay.
From the look of it, the film looks like a typical Bollywood masala fair.
Produced and distributed by Yash Raj Films, the film is set to release on 9 September 2011.

Mayank Shekhar's Review: Aarakshan

Aarakshan
Director: Prakash Jha
Actors: Amitabh Bachchan, Saif Ali Khan

Young Sushant Seth (Prateik Babbar, looking perpetually dumbfounded) is a rich kid who’s just graduated from a college that his father is a trustee of. The boy wants to get into Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia’s popular mass communications programme. He’s opted for a career in the media. It’s a tough course to get into. You could question his choice of college (I had run away from that dingy school within a month of taking admission. Shah Rukh Khan, their most famous student, is also a dropout!). But never mind that.
The boy is sure of securing admission. That doesn’t happen. Over 50 per cent of seats in Jamia, it turns out, are reserved. He’s dejected, shocked. This moment completely changes his attitude towards Dalits in particular. Which is, kind of, strange. Those Jamia seats he lost out to, were in fact reserved for another minority, the Muslims; not the backward castes. But that’s another matter again.
His is the only main character in the film that’s genuinely against reservations for minorities in state-funded colleges. The others support the government’s move for reasons of their own. One, social: Amitabh Bachchan’s Prabhakar Anand sees merit in righting the wrongs of history. Two, economic: Manoj Bajpayee’s character, doing the bidding for private entrepreneurs, smells money when upper-caste rich can’t find a place in government colleges. Three, personal: Saif Ali Khan’s Deepak Kumar is a Dalit himself.
Yeah, I know what you’ve been thinking. Suave, slick, urbane Saif for a downtrodden, poor Dalit man, who roughed it out studying in a slum while his mother ironed clothes for a living? He doesn’t look odd at all. No surprises there. Because, this is the movies. That’s how it works. You're looking for a guy-next-door? Go next door!
Saif’s character is scoffed at for being from a backward caste. He gives it back. Suitably. This unsubtle, loud, severely talkie drama, as you can tell, is in every way, more pro-reservation then. Had it not been, would it have been ‘casteist’ for it? Are we banned in this country from debating merits or demerits of reservation on caste lines altogether? Only cheap, opportunist netas would think so. They rule. The public be damned. They can't even decide what movie they can watch.

Mayank Shekhar's review: Not a Love Story

Moving images can cause a genuine migraine to some. At least the ones in this film could. Swinging at the speed of light, the camera here slips between the legs, under the skirt, is obsessed with the female knee, it licks the derriere, is stuck to the face, then planted under the breasts, over the fan, under the building…. Your head spins. Literally.
There are A-grade movies (mostly determined by popularity of filmstars in them, and therefore their budgets). There are B-grade movies (adorably low on tension, high on tackiness). Over the past few years, Varma's movies have largely fallen into neither: Raktacharitra 1, 2, Darling, Contract, Aag, Agyaat, Phoonk 1, 2…. They've deserved a category entirely of their own (V-grade? Maybe!).
This is still the first film from the director, since Sarkar Raj (2008), which comes with a script. Or at least an appealing story line. The shaking camera's also placed right at the heart of India's pop-culture capital: a quasi-independent republic called Andheri.
A young girl moves into suburban Mumbai from Chandigarh (I know, it's ‘Chandy', as North Indians with sweet penchant for shortened names call it). Her new home, where she wants to make it big in films, is of course the proverbial city of dreams. Too soon, she figures, like millions of others, her chosen city probably resides in people's dreams alone. It's a nightmare in real life.
Her apartment block, perennially under construction, like the rest of Mumbai, is pretty much an over-priced dump. It's hard enough to break into Bollywood. Random filmmakers make lame passes at her ("Before making a movie, it's important for a director to get into a 'comfort zone' with his actors." Huh, right!).

Reema Finally Told About Her Love

After over two decades in the spotlight,Reema still comes across queries as mundane as “when will you get married?”However, she answers them with enthusiasm of a giddy teen.
Dressed in a white outfit as she frequently adjusts her bangs and tosses her hair with carefully placed extenstions,it’s hard to imagine that she has been around for over 22 years, leaving one wondering if she has been under the knife. But more than the looks, it is effort she has made to move on from being a starlet to a marketabel celebrity she is her best publicist.
